blog 2

OK, so I'm a little new to this blogging thing. For example the first blog was dated Jan 1 2012, but I waited until Nov 16 2012 to publish it. Until I get more than a half dozen hits, what difference does it make? Actually the world hasn't changed all that much. The Euro Crisis: can kicked down the road. The Fiscal Ceiling? postposed to Dec 31, 2012, which is now known as the Fiscal Cliff. Another red herring? The vested interests will once again 'kick the can', or else. The question is who blinks first.

New Year, New Blog

Now that we are into the fourth day of 2012,  I'm struck by how the world situation, though constantly in flux, is just as dangerous, desperate and dreadful as usual.

The "Euro Crisis", the Republican Primaries and the feeling of angst that comes from waiting in vain for the end of the world, which never comes.

The biggest techno gadget innovation of 2011 was the iPad, which reminds me of a big iPhone or a MacBook without a keyboard or mouse. While Steve Jobs and people who communicate with one finger at a time were thrilled, those who grew up with keyboards were less impressed.

Some of us have  recollection of something known as the typewriter, (related to the later teletype machine, a distant forerunner of the desktopc computer.)

By now I thought we would at least have Star Trek communicators, which were pretty amazing - they did only one thing though: voice. It was quite simply a walkie talkie pinned to the chesk.

Eventually, Apple will re-invent it, I'm sure.
